Charlotte — Charlotte Mecklenburg Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a man died as a result of a shooting on Wednesday night.
On October 8, just before 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Winding Branch Court for a gunshot. When they arrived, they discovered Peter Batista Fana, 51, had been shot.
Fana was brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but died the next day.
According to a police complaint, a 38-year-old woman and a baby boy under the age of one were also present when the gunshot occurred; however, neither was injured.
Authorities have not stated what caused the incident or whether anyone was apprehended.
