Shawn Asher, 38, is charged with one count of second-degree assault in connection with the incident, which authorities say happened Dec. 25, 2025, at a home in London, about 77 miles south of Lexington.
Allegations Detailed by Authorities
According to law enforcement, the woman told deputies she was drinking coffee while watching her child open Christmas presents when Asher allegedly said she was “about to find out what he had done.” He then reportedly admitted to putting methamphetamine in her drink.
The woman sought medical attention the following day and underwent lab testing, which authorities say came back positive for methamphetamine. She reported the incident to law enforcement on Monday.
In addition to the alleged drugging, the victim told deputies that Asher had threatened to harm her and that she feared him because of his size and prior alleged violent behavior. Authorities also said Asher admitted to “planting” needles in the woman’s vehicle.
Arrest and Release
Asher was arrested Thursday and booked into the Knox County Detention Center. Jail records indicate he has since been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
