A woman from Chapin has been identified as the victim killed in the Lexington County crash

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A Chapin woman died as a pedestrian in Lexington County on Friday night.

According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway of the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 9:35 p.m. on Mountain Drive west of Chapin. According to Ridgeway, a 2023 Kia SUV collided with a pedestrian while driving east on Mountain Drive.

The pedestrian died on the scene of the crash. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office later identified her as Tonya Mayers Bowers, 59, of Chapin. The driver involved in the accident was not injured. Ridgeway stated that the South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
