A Texas woman who admitted to killing her husband is said to have meant to "hit, but not kill" him with her SUV

A Texas lady has reportedly admitted to killing her husband by hitting him with her SUV.

In a press release issued on Monday, October 20, Pasadena Police said that Alina Gonzalez-Morelos had been charged with murder in the death of her husband, Leonardo Mendoza.

Mendoza was saw strolling on Red Bluff Road in Pasadena, Texas, early on Sunday, October 19. Police were alerted at 3:28 a.m. after receiving a complaint from an eyewitness who saw Mendoza, 42, being struck.

“[The witness] stated that he had seen a black Tahoe exit the roadway, jump the curb, and strike the male that was walking through the parking lot,” Pasadena Police Officer Darby Slack told ABC13. “The vehicle left the scene.”

Mendoza was transferred to a local hospital and died as a result of his injuries, according to police.

Slack to ABC13 that Gonzalez-Morelos “came in voluntarily and confessed” to the crime. The wife and mother allegedly told authorities that she had returned home from a party and was inebriated at the time of the incident, telling investigators that she intended to “hit, but not kill” her husband, according to the site.

“As far as we know, there were just some marital issues going on,” Slack said. “She’d arrive home at 2 o’clock that morning. The kids overheard them having a fight inside the room. “He left, and she followed.”

Gonzalez-Morelos appeared in Harris County Court on October 20, facing a murder allegation. She remains in the Harris County Jail as of Tuesday, October 21.
