A South Carolina teacher was arrested for a felony that involved a student

SOUTH CAROLINA— A Union County teacher and assistant baseball coach was arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual behavior with a minor.

According to the Union County Detention Center website, Nicholas Bryan Turner, 29, was arrested Thursday on counts of criminal solicitation of a juvenile and third-degree criminal sexual activity with a minor.

According to Union County Schools, Turner is an assistant baseball coach at Union County High School and a physical education teacher at Sims Middle School.

In a statement, Union County Schools stated, “Union County Schools was made aware of the allegations regarding Mr. Turner at the beginning of the investigation. According to district rules, the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave while the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) conducted its investigation.

“We take all claims of misbehavior seriously and will continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement. Our pupils’ safety and well-being remain our number one priority. The district is unable to share any additional information at this time due to an active legal case.”

The investigation is underway.
