A shooter opens fire at Reno Casino, leaving two people dead and numerous others injured

A tragic shooting outside the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, Nevada on Monday morning, July 28, has left two people dead and multiple others injured, according to several news reports.

The Reno Police Department said officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the casino at around 7:25 a.m. Authorities confirmed that two victims died in the incident, and several others were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their current conditions have not been made public.

Quick Police Response Leads to Shootout

According to a police news release, officers arrived at the scene within two and a half minutes. They quickly located the armed suspect, leading to an officer-involved shooting. The gunman was injured during the encounter and is now receiving medical care. His name and condition have not yet been disclosed.

The Sparks Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff’s Office are helping the Reno Police with the ongoing investigation.

Officials Gathering Information

Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve told the Reno Gazette-Journal that investigators are still working to understand how the shooting unfolded and whether it took place in multiple locations near or around the casino.

“We are trying to put together what happened and if it happened at various locations,” Schieve said. “We are gathering statements.”
