A mother of three who had been missing for more than eighteen months was found dead on a rural Nebraska farm.

Jerica Hamre, a 30-year-old certified nursing assistant and mother of three from Lincoln, Nebraska, had her remains identified after an 18-month disappearance since June 25, 2024.

Discovery Details

On December 17, 2025, a farm representative found her body in an old shed on rural property in Furnas County near Oxford during a property inspection; remains had been there “for a long period,” with no known connection to the site or owners. Extensive searches covering over 1,000 square miles by police, family, and volunteers preceded the find, confirmed via autopsy on December 19.

Investigation Status

Lincoln Police are treating the case as a homicide, with a person of interest already in custody on unrelated charges and no community threat; final autopsy results on cause and timing are pending. Hamre’s parents reported her missing on July 3, 2024, and have raised her daughters since.

Community Response

Captain Ben Miller expressed heartbreak for the family, noting the closure allows return to loved ones despite the tragic outcome just before holidays; police thanked tipsters and media for sustained awareness.
