A Texas guy who was apparently traumatized as a child after being burned in a fire was discovered hanging from an underpass with burns on his body last month.
Officials from the Houston Police Department proceeded to the North Interstate Highway 610 on Oct. 24, where Houston Fire Department personnel informed them on the body of Jeremy Carnes, which had been discovered there, according to a statement released at the time.
Carnes was not named in the statement, but his family has already identified him in various local news sites and on a GoFundMe page.
Carnes, 46, was discovered hanging beneath an overpass with burns on his body, according to the HPD.
Homicide detectives are looking into the matter. The medical examiner’s office stated that Carnes’ cause and manner of death are still being investigated.
Carnes’ family claims that his death was not suicide due to his lifelong dread of fire, according to local site Click2Houston.
Carnes’ sister, Commilla Kidd, told Click2Houston that he was severely burned when he was three years old. He has scars all over his face.”
“My brother despised fire. “As if it was a fear after that,” Kidd continued. “For anybody to say that he did this to himself, our family’s going, you don’t know him.”
Carnes is recognized for his gentleness and ability to communicate with children.
“He could become friends with anyone. Kidd told Click2Houston that her “baby brother,” whom she helped raise, was simply sweet.
“When he was home, he was present and loving and the kids’ best friend,” Kidd told me. “He was just amazing with the kids.”
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Carnes’ family pay for his funeral and care for his dog, who the family believes is pregnant.
