A Connecticut woman is suspected of fatally shooting a guy while he was watching Toy Story with a toddler, according to authorities.
On Monday evening, state troopers went to a shooting report at a Killingly home and discovered a guy with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to an arrest report acquired by PEOPLE.
Arriving authorities discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the chest.
A state police report identifies him as Andrew Michael Olson, 39, of Canterbury, according to WPRI, NBC Connecticut, and the New York Daily News.
He was taken to a local hospital and eventually died.
According to reports, a 12-year-old kid told troopers that he and Olson were watching Toy Story when Michelle Yeagher, 65, entered the room and shot the father.
Yeagher was found inside the house and promptly apprehended.
She is being jailed on a $1 million bond after being charged with murder, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, putting a kid in danger, and first-degree reckless endangerment.
According to the arrest record shared by the outlets, troopers discovered Yeagher in bed and she seemed to be heavily intoxicated.
When the troopers asked her what occurred, she allegedly said, “He tried to kill me,” according to the report.
“I shot him,” she allegedly added. “He came after me, I shot him.”
Yeagher was also taken to the hospital, where she informed troopers she was unhappy about what had happened that day and began drinking that night. According to the report, she said Olson and the child came over and she went to sleep before waking up, feeling afraid, getting her gun from a safe, and remembering seeing someone on the floor.
Authorities did not reveal any information about the relationship between Yeagher, Olson, and the child.
In a GoFundMe page set up to aid with funeral expenses, the organizer described Olson as “a kind, generous man, and a loving father, son, brother, and friend” with a “heart of gold.”
“He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought,” according to the fundraising site. “He was so deeply loved by everyone who knew him, and his absence has left an emptiness that can never be filled.”
It is unclear if Yeagher has hired a counsel who can speak on her behalf. She is expected to appear in court on December 11.
