Romier Taguiam Narag, 30, from California, received a sentence of 64 years to life for the first-degree murder of his girlfriend Frances Lucero, 27, committed in front of their young children in 2023.
Incident Details
On March 6, 2023, following a heated argument outside their Redwood City home, Narag shot Lucero twice in the back as she tried to flee. The couple’s children, aged 3 and 4, witnessed the event, leading to additional child endangerment charges.
Trial and Sentencing
Narag was convicted in February 2026 of first-degree murder with a firearm enhancement. At the March 5 sentencing in San Mateo County Superior Court, his attorney cited a jealous rage after Lucero ended their relationship, while Narag expressed remorse and self-hatred. Prosecutors highlighted the lifelong trauma inflicted on the now-orphaned children.
