A South Carolina man pled guilty to murder in connection with the 2022 drive-by shooting that killed a 6-year-old kid.

On October 14, Michael Thomas Lloyd pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison, according to Orangeburg County, South Carolina, court records.

In 2024, two more defendants in the case, Jeremiah Harley and Ethan Anderson, pled guilty to murder and received life sentences.

According to WLTX, authorities say at least 21 rounds were fired at a home in North, South Carolina, in May 2022.

Winston Hunter, 6, was lying on the couch watching television when the rounds were fired, according to the publication. He was struck in the head and wrist and pronounced dead on the scene.

According to WLTX, prosecutors said Lloyd acknowledged to opening fire on the home with the other defendants because he assumed a drug dealer lived there.

According to ABC 4, officials released terrible facts from the second 911 call that reported the incident.

“They shot my baby,” a caller yelled, according to ABC 4.

“Save my brother,” Winston’s 12-year-old sibling allegedly stated during the 911 call.

Courtney Hunter, Winston’s mother, spoke at Lloyd’s sentencing hearing, according to WLTX.
