An Ohio man, Desean Brown, has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal murders of his ex-girlfriend, Nyteisha Lattimore, and her 3-year-old son, Nylo, on September 10, 2025. Brown, 25, pled guilty to two counts of aggravated murder, avoiding the death penalty through a plea agreement that spared Lattimore’s family from enduring years of painful appeals.

The Murders

The murders took place on or around December 5, 2020. Brown, who had been in a relationship with Lattimore, had been staying at her apartment in Cincinnati’s Walnut Hills neighborhood. He first killed Lattimore by stabbing her 11 times in the neck. The following morning, Brown murdered Nylo by throwing him, still alive, into the Ohio River from the Purple People Bridge. Brown had brought the child in a stroller to the bridge before committing the horrific act.

Days later, Brown placed Lattimore’s body in a bag purchased from eBay and took an Uber to the same bridge, where he tried to dispose of her remains in the river. However, the bag became stuck on a ledge, and Lattimore’s body was later discovered. Despite extensive search efforts, Nylo’s body was never recovered, although his stroller was found in the river by family members.

The Aftermath

Before abandoning Lattimore’s body, Brown attempted to clean up the crime scene in her apartment, where blood had leaked into the unit below. Investigators found that Brown had even looked up how to clean blood and tried to cover up the evidence.

Brown’s Motive

Though no clear motive was discussed during the plea hearing, in 2023, prosecutors revealed that Brown had blamed Lattimore for having a miscarriage, which allegedly led him to seek revenge. A woman had reported that Brown discussed killing Lattimore and Nylo in retaliation.

Court Proceedings

The plea agreement, which was finalized after Brown was deemed competent to stand trial, was first offered under the prior administration. The plea deal prevented a lengthy and costly trial. At the September 10 hearing, Assistant Prosecutor Seth Tieger called Brown’s actions “ruthless,” and Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said the sentence delivered justice for both Lattimore and her son.

Brown’s sentence of life in prison without parole will keep him behind bars for the rest of his life, bringing some sense of closure to the victims’ family.
