Kaylee B. Shackelford, a 20-year-old pregnant woman from Powell, Tennessee, was allegedly stabbed and beaten to death by her boyfriend, Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, 23, outside a Rome, Georgia apartment complex. Taylor faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing a death, and feticide after an autopsy confirmed her pregnancy. Rolanda Monique Edwards, 25, whom Taylor met online, is charged as a party to the crime, concealing the death, and hindering apprehension.

Incident Details

Police discovered Shackelford’s body covered in blankets near Hull Avenue and Cedar Avenue around noon on Tuesday. Warrants indicate Taylor stabbed her in the neck, chest, and face before striking her head with a baseball bat, with the time of death estimated at 2:30 a.m.. Witnesses saw a red car at the scene; Taylor and Edwards fled, leading to a high-speed chase in Bartow County where they were arrested.​​

Taylor remains held without bond following a bond hearing. Edwards posted a $5,000 bond. No public motive has been released, and none of the individuals are local to Rome.
