Christopher Ates, 39, fatally shot 34-year-old Eboni Anderson, a DoorDash driver and mother of three, outside Palmetto Elementary School in Fulton County, Georgia, on February 10, 2026, around 11 a.m. Surveillance video showed Anderson arriving in her black GMC Acadia, exiting with bags, when Ates allegedly assaulted her, shot her multiple times, and fled in her vehicle, leaving his ID in the bags that identified him as her twin sons’ stepfather. The shooting, described as a domestic dispute by school officials, triggered a hard lockdown and evacuation of over 550 students to a nearby middle school.
Chase and Arrest
Hours later, Ates was tracked over 100 miles south to Warner Robins in Houston County, where police attempted a traffic stop. He led a chase, crashed into a semi-truck and guardrail, rolling down an embankment, and was taken into custody with a young child crying in the backseat, who was safely removed and evaluated by EMS before being handed to juvenile services.
Current Charges
Ates faces felony murder, aggravated assault, and three firearm-related charges in Fulton County Jail, including possession by a convicted felon and carrying a weapon in a school safety zone; he was transferred there by February 12. In Houston County, he is charged with reckless driving, fleeing police, and second-degree child cruelty related to the chase. Additional charges are pending review.
