A man fatally killed his lover's husband at a bus stop before throwing the knife in the bushes near his own job.

Carl Mott, aged 61 at the time of the crime, was sentenced Friday to 70 years in prison after a January 30 conviction for murdering 52-year-old Michael Bowman and tampering with evidence.

Crime Details

On December 14, 2024, Mott—engaged in a long-term affair with Bowman’s wife—confronted the couple at a San Antonio bus stop, stabbed Bowman in the upper left shoulder following an exchange of words, and fled as the victim sought help in a nearby restaurant.

Investigation and Arrest

Surveillance captured Mott discarding the knife in bushes near his workplace 10 minutes post-attack; it was recovered four days later. The couple identified him as the attacker, citing prior assaults, leading to his arrest 11 hours later.

DA Statement

Bexar County DA Joe Gonzales described it as a “senseless act of violence fueled by jealousy,” ensuring accountability for the victim’s family.
