A Texas man, Christopher Preciado, has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of 18-year-old Savanah Soto, her 22-year-old boyfriend Matthew Guerra, and their unborn baby.
The crime occurred in December 2023 during a failed drug deal. After the killings, Preciado enlisted his parents to dispose of the victims’ bodies.
How the Murders Happened
Christopher Preciado and the victims were supposed to meet for a drug deal at an apartment in San Antonio. However, Preciado shot and killed Soto and Guerra while they were sitting in their car. He then asked his parents for help in dumping the bodies at a nearby apartment complex.
Charges Against Preciado’s Parents
Preciado’s father, 55-year-old Ramon Preciado, was charged with abuse of a corpse for his role in the crime. His partner, Myrta Romanos, was initially charged with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and concealing a human body. However, the charges against her were later dropped.
The Investigation and Discovery of the Bodies
Soto’s family reported her missing on December 23, 2023, after she failed to attend an appointment for her pregnancy. Guerra’s family also could not reach him.
On December 26, a resident noticed the victim’s car behind a building on Danny Kaye Drive in San Antonio. When police arrived, they found Soto and Guerra dead inside, both victims of gunshot wounds to the head.
Surveillance Video and Evidence
Surveillance footage showed Ramon Preciado and others driving Soto and Guerra’s car to the crime scene, where they abandoned it. Detectives later learned Guerra was involved in selling drugs, which made him a target for robbery.
Investigators found that the location where the car was dumped was close to a place that had been searched on the victim’s phone.
Preciado’s Confession and Legal Outcome
Christopher Preciado admitted to killing Soto and Guerra during a drug deal gone wrong. However, police did not believe his explanation. His parents were also involved in helping him cover up the crime. After a lengthy trial, Preciado was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison.
