New details have surfaced about a frightening incident involving Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid that happened more than a year ago. According to reports, a bullet struck Reid’s office window at the team’s practice facility on May 4, 2024, while the coach was working late at night.
What Happened That Night
A Kansas City Police Department report states the incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. Reid was inside his office when the bullet pierced a window and struck the wall just 15 feet away from his desk.
Security staff on site initially heard a noise before discovering a bullet hole. When officers arrived, they found that three shots had struck the building:
One round pierced Reid’s office window and lodged into a wall.
A second round hit an air conditioning unit outside.
A third struck the floor above Reid’s office.
Thankfully, no one was injured.
Police Investigation
Authorities are treating the case as aggravated assault, since the building was occupied when the bullets entered. As of now:
No arrests have been made
Detectives are awaiting forensic results to determine the bullet’s origin
Police say there is no indication that Reid or the Chiefs were specifically targeted
An insider told USA Today the team believes the shooting was likely random.

Though the incident was kept quiet at the time, reports say the Chiefs took additional safety precautions, including installing bulletproof windows in Reid’s office.
