Charlotte — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after a body was discovered in the landing gear of a European plane that landed at Charlotte Airport.
Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, airport officials in Charlotte, North Carolina, said they found someone hiding in the landing gear while performing maintenance on that American Airlines plane that had just arrived from Europe.
Officers pronounced the person dead. There have been no other details released about the investigation.

American Airlines told Nexstar’s WJZY that it is “working with law enforcement on its investigation.”

Authorities said that earlier this year, two bodies, later identified as teenagers, were discovered in the landing gear compartment of a JetBlue aircraft at a South Florida airport. The flight arrived in Fort Lauderdale from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
In late December, a body was discovered in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane returning from Chicago to Maui.
