A Wisconsin mother was found dead in an alley this week, hours after a little kid — later identified as her son — was discovered missing and wondering around early in the morning.
Anya Raymond, 31, was discovered with several gunshot wounds in a Milwaukee alley around 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, according to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office, WISN, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and TMJ 4.
Hours earlier, at 4 a.m., a little child, believed to be around 5 or 6 years old, was discovered walking without shoes or socks in a place about three miles from Raymond’s body, Milwaukee police said, according to the outlets.
Officials have since stated that the boy is connected to Raymond, but have not disclosed the extent of the relationship, according to media reports.
Raymond’s relatives stated on GoFundMe that the boy was her son.
Online activities from a Facebook account with Raymond’s name and images reveal strange posts in the days leading up to her body’s retrieval.
“I ain’t wanna leave on bad terms now s**t [going to] get super bad tryna go low or I’m [going to] go to hell,” she wrote on Oct. 29 in a tweet, adding that she “videos pics the whole nine & make sure I explain why we fell out.”
“Always one step ahead, I’m gonna have him my way 4sure,” she said in another post on Oct. 31.
“Checkmate,” she said in her final public post, two days before her death was discovered. “Talking about kids is insane but god dont (sic) like ugly.”
It was not immediately obvious who the posts were referring to.
According to WISN, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, and TMJ 4, the young kid has been reunited with his family by police.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation. Police have not publicly identified a suspect or person of interest in the case.
