In Idaho, a 16-year-old runaway is being jailed on a $1 million bond after allegedly shooting and killing a woman in her trailer park home.

In a press release received by PEOPLE, the Blackfoot Police Department identified the victim as Rebecca Rivera, 30, and the suspect as Bobby G. Jackson, 16 years old.

According to the announcement, officers began a homicide investigation on October 23 after attending to a home in the 1100 block of South Broadway.

The youngster arrived at Rivera’s trailer home after 12:40 p.m. that day, shot her in the head, and fled, according to KIFI Local News 8, EastIdahoNews.com, and CBS2 Idaho News.

According to EastIdahoNews.com, KSL, and Law&Crime, investigators said in a probable cause affidavit that Rivera was shot after refusing to give him a ride. “I put a bullet in her brain,” Jackson allegedly told detectives, according to the affidavit shared by the outlets.

In a 2:30 a.m. update on Oct. 24, police said he was apprehended in Pocatello following an overnight manhunt and that there was no additional threat to the public.

Later that day, Jackson was charged as an adult with first-degree murder and ordered held on a $1 million bond at the 3B Detention Facility, according to an updated Blackfoot Police Department statement.

Before being apprehended, police said Jackson was “extremely dangerous,” and he was last spotted at 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 23 near Highway 91 and Riverton Road. He was dressed in blue Levis, a light plaid jacket, cowboy boots, and a dark T-shirt, according to an earlier publication. Residents were encouraged to lock their doors and remain vigilant.

According to detectives, he allegedly took a handgun prior to the crime and was reported as a runaway.

“Our hearts go out to the Rivera family, our community, and all those affected by this tragic crime,” the department wrote in a revised statement.
