A Wisconsin teenager, Ronnie Fuentez, has been found guilty of felony murder caused by battery in the death of his 46-year-old uncle, Adam Thompson. According to records from Waukesha County Circuit Court, the jury returned its verdict Thursday and also convicted Fuentez of misdemeanor bail jumping.

The incident occurred on Feb. 1, 2025, at the apartment the two shared on Delafield Street in Waukesha, just west of Milwaukee. Court documents state that Fuentez, who was 17 at the time, became upset after Thompson refused to allow the teen’s friend to sleep over. Prosecutors said the argument escalated when Fuentez punched his uncle in the head with a closed fist. Thompson reportedly struck back in self-defense before raising his arms to shield himself as Fuentez continued punching him and yelling insults. Fuentez then left the apartment and did not return until the next morning.

Brain Bleed and Death

Thompson initially did not seek medical attention and reported no immediate serious injuries. However, two days later he developed a severe migraine that persisted despite taking over-the-counter medication. On Feb. 5, while speaking with his mother on the phone, he began struggling to complete sentences. Concerned he was having a stroke, she drove to his apartment and then transported him to Waukesha Memorial Hospital, where doctors determined he had an internal brain bleed.

Thompson was admitted to the intensive care unit. Although he had difficulty forming complete sentences, he was able to tell authorities that his nephew had punched him multiple times in the head. A Waukesha police officer responded to the hospital and documented his account. Thompson died on Feb. 17, 2025, from complications related to the brain injury.

Charges Upgraded and Sentencing Ahead

Fuentez was initially charged with battery, but the charge was upgraded to murder following Thompson’s death. Authorities also noted that Fuentez was out on bond for an unrelated case at the time of the assault.

Thompson was remembered in his obituary as an avid gamer and reptile enthusiast who loved his dog and cherished family gatherings. Fuentez is scheduled to be sentenced on April 27.
