A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Michigan after allegedly stabbing his fiancée to death, citing a dispute over her relationship with his roommate as the motive. Seth Thomas Martin was charged with first-degree murder after he confessed to killing 33-year-old Mallory Myers in Waterford Township, a suburb of Detroit.
The Gruesome Incident
On Friday afternoon, Martin called 911 at around 3:41 p.m. to report that he had stabbed his fiancée, Mallory Myers. When officers arrived, they found Martin standing outside with blood on his arms. Police entered the home and discovered Myers dead from multiple stab wounds.
According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, Martin was immediately arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The details of the crime were laid out during an arraignment hearing on Monday, revealing a chilling sequence of events.
The Alleged Murder
Prosecutors said that Martin and Myers were lying in bed together when Myers was on her phone. Martin then allegedly took a knife and stabbed her five to ten times. During a 911 call, Martin told dispatchers that Myers was critically injured and he couldn’t apply pressure to her wounds because “there were too many.” He also stated that he had stabbed her in the neck, chest, and arm.
Martin reportedly told the dispatcher that he targeted Myers’ neck first because he “wanted it to take less time.” He also recalled Myers’ desperate cries for help, saying, “baby, baby, baby, I’m dying. Baby I’m dying. Call the cops.”
In an interview with detectives, Martin allegedly admitted that he had fantasized about killing Myers with a knife “early on in their relationship.”
The Motive
When questioned about the motive for the murder, Martin reportedly said that he felt his fiancée was “driving a wedge between him and his roommate.” This claim suggests that Martin’s jealousy or frustration over his relationship with his roommate may have been a key factor in the deadly confrontation.
Domestic Violence and Legal Action
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald condemned the tragic incident, noting that domestic violence remains the leading cause of death for women aged 15 to 44. She emphasized that Mallory Myers should not be considered just another statistic. “Her life had purpose, and she should be with us still,” McDonald said. “We intend to bring Mallory’s killer to justice.”
Martin is currently being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail. His next court date is set for June 27, where he will face further legal proceedings related to the brutal killing of his fiancée.
The case has shaken the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic violence. Mallory Myers’ death has left her family and friends in mourning, as they remember her life and the senseless loss they’ve endured. Authorities are determined to hold Martin accountable for his actions, and the case continues to unfold as more details emerge.
