A Kentucky man has been charged with murder after police said he crashed his truck into a group of people waiting at a bus stop, killing one person and injuring several others.

Woman Killed at Bus Stop

According to police, the crash happened Monday at the intersection of Dixie Highway and Rockford Lane in Shively, a suburb near Louisville, Kentucky.

Authorities said five people were standing at a bus stop when a black Chevy Silverado allegedly ran a red light, struck another vehicle, and then crashed into the group.

Danielle Cordes, 43, died in the incident. Four other people were injured, including two who reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries.

Driver Accused of Drinking Before Crash

Police identified the driver as Kevin Moore, 45.

According to court records, Moore admitted he had been driving the truck and told officers he had consumed tequila about an hour before the crash.

However, investigators said Moore claimed the accident was not his fault despite admitting he was drunk.

Police also reported that Moore refused to take a field sobriety test because he already knew he was intoxicated and instead asked officers to take him to jail.

Authorities said he smelled of alcohol and appeared unsteady on his feet.

Multiple Charges Filed

Moore has been charged with murder, first-degree assault, wanton endangerment, DUI, reckless driving, disregarding a traffic light, and criminal mischief.

He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Tuesday and was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
