$4.5 billion's son After two years, the mogul was detained as a suspect by investigators. The Mysterious Death of the Father Could Be a Murder

Jonathan Andic, 45, the son of Mango fashion group founder Isak Andic, has been arrested in Spain in connection with his father’s death, which occurred during a hiking trip in December 2024.

The Fatal Fall in Montserrat Natural Park

Isak Andic, the billionaire founder of Mango, died after falling approximately 100 meters off a cliff while hiking in Montserrat Natural Park near Barcelona. Jonathan Andic was present at the time and was one of the only witnesses besides the emergency caller.

At the time, Jonathan served as global executive director of Mango Man. In 2025, he became vice chairman of Mango’s board.

Investigation and Arrest

Initially, authorities ruled the death a tragic accident and closed the case in early 2025 after finding no evidence of criminal activity. The investigation was reopened later that year after authorities identified contradictions in Jonathan’s statements.

On May 19, 2026, Jonathan Andic was arrested by Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalonia Police) at his home on suspicion of homicide, according to the BBC.

He later appeared before Judge Raquel Nieto Galvan, who granted him bail of €1 million. The judge also ordered him to surrender his passport and mandated weekly court appearances while the investigation continues.

Family and Legal Response

The Andic family released a statement defending Jonathan, insisting there is “no legitimate evidence against him” and expressing confidence in his eventual exoneration.

Jonathan’s lawyer, Cristobal Martell, condemned the homicide allegation, describing it as inconsistent and damaging. “But above all, it is painful. It stigmatizes an innocent man. Now the real process begins, and the truth and his innocence will shine through,” Martell said.

The family spokesperson stated that Jonathan would continue cooperating with authorities and emphasised the presumption of innocence.

Mango Fashion Group Overview

Isak Andic founded Mango in 1984, growing it into one of Europe’s largest fast-fashion brands. The company now operates around 2,900 stores across 120 markets globally, including the United States.

In 2025, Mango’s turnover reached nearly 3.8 billion euros ($4.4 billion), marking an 11 percent increase from 2024. Forbes had estimated Isak Andic’s net worth at approximately $4.5 billion at the time of his death.

Jonathan Andic’s Role and Family Background

Jonathan Andic is the eldest of Isak Andic’s three children and is among the heirs to the billionaire’s estate. The family originally moved from Turkey to Spain during Isak Andic’s early years. Jonathan followed in his father’s footsteps, eventually joining one of Europe’s leading fast-fashion companies.

Mango CEO Toni Ruiz mourned Isak Andic’s death, saying, “All of us are, in some way, his legacy and the testimony of his achievements. His passing leaves a huge void.”
