A car linked to a homicide investigation in Cayce led Lexington County deputies on a chase early Saturday morning.

High-Speed Pursuit on Highway 321

Deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver continued along Highway 321, prompting a pursuit.

PIT Maneuver Stops Suspect

The chase ended near the South Carolina State Farmers Market when a deputy used a precision immobilization technique, known as a PIT maneuver, to safely stop the car.

Shooting Incident During Arrest

After the vehicle came to a stop, the suspect began firing a gun, including a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Deputies administered first aid and called EMS before the suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Ongoing Investigations

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the shooting, while the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the chase.
