John Thomas Scott, 45, of Lancaster, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to the murder of 81-year-old Gary Franke, as well as abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. He faces a prison sentence of 18 years to life.
Details of the Crime
Franke was found dead in a wooded area on his property in the 700 block of South Maple Street after Scott killed him with a gunshot following yard work at his home. Scott later returned with his girlfriend, Holly McDaniel, and the two buried the victim’s body under brush.

Scott was arrested the day after the murder. McDaniel was charged with tampering with evidence and obstructing justice; her case is ongoing.
