CHESTER, S.C. — A shooting incident in the City of Chester on Sunday evening left one person dead and another hospitalized, according to the City of Chester Police Department.
At approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to the 100 block of Pinckney Street. Upon arrival, they found one individual who was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another person was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment of their injuries.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has taken over the investigation, which is still ongoing.
City officials expressed their concern over the incident, stating that acts of violence have no place in the community. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
