Due to a drainage project, Sullivan's Island has road restrictions and detours.

Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, implemented a two-week road closure on Middle Street starting January 5, 2026, to allow contractors to install new drainage infrastructure.

Closure Scope

The work impacts eastbound Middle Street at Station 30 and westbound at Station 32, with detours routing traffic via Ion Avenue. Signs reading “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” permit access for local residents and essential vehicles like delivery trucks, school buses, and waste collection.

Access and Contacts

Residents retain property access around barricades, as confirmed by Police Chief Glenn Meadows. For inquiries, contact Gulf Stream Construction at 843-572-4363 or town administrator Joseph Henderson at 843-883-5731.
