North Charleston, South Carolina— Small stores around the country offered bargains to attract shoppers, with the National Retail Federation estimating that 67 million people would shop on Saturday.
Of those shoppers, 80% said they planned to shop to support local businesses on local Business Saturday.
Visitors at Roadside Blossoms in North Charleston could participate in hair styling, jewelry making, tarot readings, and receive free refreshments. The business collaborated with other local vendors for the event.
Small Business Saturday is observed annually on the day following Black Friday. The idea is to remind buyers of the significance of supporting local businesses, particularly during peak holiday shopping seasons.
Supporting small businesses is especially important this year due to the challenges they have faced, such as tariff uncertainty and increased prices.
A small firm can benefit greatly from each purchase. Those who contribute invest in the heart of local economies.
“Having that Black Friday rush and the excitement of Black Friday and then kind of seeing what that means in 2025 and knowing that all of these corporations have plenty of people giving them plenty of money and when you’re putting your money into a small community shops like roadside blooms or other locally own businesses, you’re putting your money back into your local economy,” Danielle Bruno, the owner of Roadside Blooms, said.
Bruno explained that, in addition to buying local, consumers can help by sharing the news about their favorite shops on social media and by word of mouth.
