FIRST ALERT: Low temperatures could reach near-freezing levels this weekend!

Charleston, South Carolina — A chilly start to our Friday and weekend!! This morning, expect temperatures to be below freezing and dry. Feels-like temperatures may be slightly lower due to a weak northwesterly wind, particularly in our inland regions. Similar morning lows are expected on Saturday.

Below-average temperatures are expected to persist into the weekend, with daytime temperatures remaining lower than those recorded on Thanksgiving. On Friday and Saturday, afternoon highs are expected to be in the low to mid 50s across the region, which is about 10-15° lower than typical.

Our next possibility of rain should come early next week, ahead of two storm systems. The first disturbance is expected to bring isolated showers on Sunday and Monday.

Forecast models indicate that a stronger, moisture-rich system may form late Monday night and Tuesday, increasing our rain coverage. The possibility of localized downpours and ponding on the roads cannot be discounted. Any remaining showers should move offshore before sunrise on Wednesday.
