Berkeley County deputies report three injuries from a dog attack

Berkeley County, South Carolina — Berkeley County deputies are looking into a dog assault on Tuesday afternoon that left three people hospitalized.

Deputies responded to the reported attack at a home on Stone Post Road at 3:30 p.m., according to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office.

When detectives arrived, they discovered that a Pitbull had attacked one of the residents. During the event, another person fled to a neighboring neighbor’s house for assistance, and when the two returned home, the dog attacked them as well, according to officials.

Although law officials did not specify the nature of the injuries, one victim required surgery following the incident. The remaining two victims are also being treated at the hospital.

The dog was transferred to the Berkeley Animal Center and is currently in quarantine. The dog’s owner was not there during the attack.

Initially, a sheriff’s office representative stated that at least one person was harmed after being bitten in the arm or stomach.

An investigation is ongoing. It is unknown at this moment whether any charges will be brought.
