The Rock Hill Police Department closed the US-21 bridge early Saturday morning after finding an explosive while investigating a collision.
Police were investigating on the US-21 bridge at 3 a.m. when they discovered a military-style grenade in a car that appeared to be undamaged and alive.
The road was closed in all directions so that the Bomb Squad could investigate.
The grenade was collected and confirmed safe after it was disassembled and discovered to be devoid of explosive components.
The roadway has since reopened.
