A man in Texas is suspected of shooting a teenage girl after a brawl at a party, and he is still on the run.
Deshawn Suggs, 18, is wanted for murder in the death of 17-year-old Alianna Ujueta, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
The shooting happened on September 28.
Prior to the incident, a party was held at a residence in the 13000 block of Luckey Road in Atascosa, Texas. A fight broke out shortly before 2 a.m. and spilled into the street. “Gunfire erupted,” officials claim.
Someone shot Ujueta, and when deputies arrived to the scene, they discovered her laying on the roadway with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to San Antonio ABC affiliate KSAT, a witness reported that a dark pickup truck ran over the man before driving away.
Nearly two months later, officials said they believe Suggs killed the girl.
The San Antonio Express-News claimed that law enforcement officers discovered numerous items at the scene of the incident, including clothing, jewelry, and expended gun shells.
Authorities have not explained how they identified Suggs as the suspect.
According to the local newspaper, Suggs is also facing other charges, one of which was filed just a week before the shooting.
Due to an incident on September 19, the defendant was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon. He is also charged with burglary, robbery, and making a terroristic threat in a February case.
Ujueta’s older brother stated that his sister “would want to be remembered by the love she had for her family.”
