A Massachusetts man was sentenced to life in prison without parole after brutally stabbing his ex-girlfriend.
Bruce Maiben, 48, was convicted of first-degree murder on Monday, Nov. 3, in connection with the death of Sherell Pringle, 40.
“This verdict and subsequent sentence will ensure that the defendant is held accountable for his senseless and atrocious conduct,” Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker stated on Wednesday, November 5. “Our hope is that the family and friends of Sherell Pringle can find some comfort in this outcome.”
Pringle, a mother of a teenage boy, went missing early on December 19, 2021. Her corpse was discovered two days later at the Rumney Marsh Reservation in Saugus.
She had been stabbed an additional 217 times, according to Boston25News.
Pringle allegedly texted a friend before her murder saying she was “done with [Maiben]” after he illegally entered her home and threatened her with a knife, according to a pretrial motion, Boston.com reported.
Pearl Garner, Pringle’s mother, referred to Maiben as “scum” at his sentencing.
“You don’t deserve to be walking here,” she stated in a victim impact statement to Boston25News. “You will get what you deserve because God don’t like ugly.”
“I hope you rot in hell for what you did,” she told me.
Garner told NBC10 that her daughter’s funeral had to be held in a closed casket due to the horrific attack.
According to her obituary, Pringle, who worked for a medical company, enjoyed traveling, shopping, and taking photographs.
“She enjoyed life,” the obituary says. “Our queen was a natural born leader. She was quite ambitious. “She was an incredible mother.”
Pringle had just put in an offer on a property that was approved when she died, according to Boston25News.
Maiben was detained on December 23, 2021.
