SOUTH CAROLINA— The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is looking into a shooting on a Spartanburg County farm involving a retired sheriff’s officer.
Spartanburg County deputies responded to a call at 3 p.m. Monday at 662 Union Highway.
According to preliminary findings, two people came to the property attempting to take stuff. The property owner, who had been watching security cameras, confronted the perpetrators.
A shooting happened during the confrontation, but authorities have not revealed who fired the shots. One of the trespassers was shot and is currently in serious condition at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
The other suspect, Robert Michael Liner II, was interviewed and charged with petty larceny.
Because a retired Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office deputy was engaged in the shooting, the matter has been forwarded to SLED for additional investigation.
