A Conway woman was arrested for allegedly co-sleeping with an infant while intoxicated, resulting in the child’s death.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division accused Carlie Marie Swann, 33, with criminal conduct toward a child on October 16, 2025, according to a release issued Friday.
Renee Wunderlich, spokesperson for SLED, verified the child’s death. Wunderlich stated that SLED’s Special Victims Unit investigates all deaths in the state involving children under the age of 18, as required by state law.
Swann is suspected of ingesting “copious” amounts of alcohol before sleeping with the infant on August 25, 2025, according to an arrest request.
Swann had a blood alcohol level of.131%, according to the warrant.
The child’s age and name have not been revealed. It is also unknown what relationship Swann has with the youngster.
Horry County police aided in the investigation.
