SOUTH CAROLINA— A 16-year-old Laurens County juvenile died after crashing his motorcycle while being pursued by Oconee County deputies on Saturday night.
Oconee County Coroner Karl Addis identified the teen as Olivia Morgan Sanchez of Gray Court. The pursuit began when deputies attempted to stop Sanchez on Clemson Boulevard for speeding, no tag, and failure to keep her lane.
According to the coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Sanchez attempted to elude law enforcement while going west on Sheep Farm Road near Brook Lane around 11:30 p.m. Her motorcycle veered off the road, colliding with an embankment and a tree.
The motorcycle was operated solely by Sanchez, who was wearing a helmet. She was transferred to Greenville Memorial Hospital and died Sunday night. The cause of death was blunt force trauma, and her death was deemed accidental.
Sanchez attended Laurens High School.
