ROCKHAM — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has filed drug trafficking and other drug charges against a man who has previously been convicted of violence.
According to the arrest warrant, Fletcher Delaine Bryant, 37, of Rockingham, was found in possession of more than 28 grams of meth, 4 to 14 grams of “opium,” and 129.3 grams (4.5 ounces) of marijuana.
Bryant also allegedly had digital scales, clear plastic baggies, and a Century Arms-Canik Mete MC9 9mm handgun.
He was arrested on September 25 and charged with trafficking methamphetamine, opium, or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver marijuana, felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bryant was booked into the Richmond County Jail and is being held on a combined $140,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 9.
According to records with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction, Bryant served just under five years in prison following a 2013 conviction for robbery with a dangerous weapon. Several months after being released in 2018, he served another year on a post-release revocation.
Bryant was initially convicted of two counts of breaking and entering vending machines in 2004. His initial probation was revoked the following year, and he was imprisoned for approximately six weeks.
Other previous convictions include:
2007 – simple assault.
2009 – driving while impaired (two counts); discharging a firearm into an occupied property; receiving stolen goods; other misdemeanor.
All defendants who face criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
