Tanger Outlets Charleston celebrates its new renovations with free festivities

Tanger Outlets Charleston recently completed a major renovation to enhance the shopping experience for visitors. To celebrate, the outlet mall is hosting a weekend full of festivities, including free prizes, games, and a more modern, elevated shopping environment.

Andrea Gervacio, the marketing director for Tanger Outlets Charleston, shared that the updates are designed to blend Charleston’s rich history with modern touches. “The property is 19 years old, and we needed a refresh. We’ve modernized our colors, added new lighting, and completed a full paint job across the entire property,” Gervacio said. “As you come in through the evening, it’s a lot brighter.”

Ribbon-Cutting and Live Music

The celebration kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, followed by live music on Friday. Local officials, including Mayor Burgess, expressed their excitement about the continued growth and development of Tanger Outlets. “It’s been received really well,” Gervacio noted.

Fun Activities and Prizes

Shoppers had the chance to participate in the “Spin to Win” event on Saturday, where they could win prizes such as stuffed animals, bags, and other goodies. Shoppers like Jorge Macedo shared their experience, saying, “You just download the app, make an account, and in a couple of minutes, you’re spinning the wheel. I got two pairs of sunglasses!”

Zakerria Herring also won a $50 gift card and a free beauty bag, while Alex and Nhi walked away with a free mug and a cow plush toy.

Family-Friendly Features

Tanger Outlets has also introduced a new play area for children to enjoy while their parents shop. “It’s usually hot out here, so for her to be able to come over here and relax and play, it’s amazing,” Herring said.

Celebrating Charleston’s Culture

A new addition to the property is the Hall of Hometown mural, which showcases Charleston’s history and culture. Gervacio expressed excitement about being part of the planning process for this project, saying, “As the community around this was growing immensely, we needed to shift with it.”

Support for Local Businesses

In line with its renovation efforts, Tanger Outlets has also supported small local businesses by allowing them to participate in the celebrations. Marlon Bryant, owner of Grandma’s Cheesecakes, appreciated the opportunity to showcase his business. “They’re looking out for small businesses like us and giving us the opportunity to be part of this process,” he said.

Dionne Jones, the owner of D Sweet Grass Basketry and Charleston Chinaberry, also praised the initiative. “Making things by hand, you don’t hardly see it as much anymore. I love that they allow small businesses to come in and set up as well,” Jones said.

Upcoming Store Openings

Tanger Outlets Charleston is wrapping up the final touches of the renovation and plans to continue adding new features throughout the year. Gervacio also shared exciting news about new stores coming soon, including Shake Shack, Lululemon, Auntie Anne’s, Jamba Juice, and The Children’s Place.

With all these new additions and improvements, Tanger Outlets Charleston is sure to provide a refreshed shopping experience for both locals and visitors alike.
