SCDOT says lane closures begin Friday night for North Bridge renovations

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. – Some lanes of the North Bridge over the Ashley River will be closed for much of the weekend while crews make bridge repairs.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation said it will close the two outside lanes heading northbound on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard and Cosgrove Avenue between U.S. Highway 17 and Highway 52/78 beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.

SCDOT officials stated that the closures will enable crews to conduct bridge deck repairs on the North Bridge over the Ashley River. The closure is expected to last until Sunday afternoon.

The inside lane of traffic will remain open.

Drivers are asked to use alternative routes during the closure period and expect delays in the area.
