After a pickup truck struck trees and overturned in a collision in the Ridgeville area, the victim was named

Ridgeville, S.C. – The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office has identified James King Jr., a 64-year-old man from Summerville, as the victim of a single-car crash that occurred early Tuesday morning near Ridgeville.

Incident Details

According to Coroner Paul J. Brouthers, King was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:10 a.m. The crash occurred around 3:20 a.m. when a 2022 Ford pickup truck, traveling east on Givhans Ferry Road near River View Bluff, went off the left side of the road. The truck struck multiple trees and overturned, resulting in King’s death. King was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Investigation and Autopsy

An autopsy will be performed at the Medical University of South Carolina on Friday at 10:30 a.m.. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office are conducting the investigation into the cause of the crash.
