Charleston, S.C. – While the Lowcountry has enjoyed a brief relief from the extreme heat of July, summer is not over yet, with more high temperatures and humidity expected in the coming days. As the temperature rises, so can your energy bills, as the demand for cooling your home increases.
Energy Assistance Available for Financially Struggling Customers
In response to potential financial hardships due to rising energy costs, Dominion Energy is encouraging customers who are struggling to pay their energy bills to explore assistance options available through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This federally funded program offers bill payment and energy assistance for qualified customers, aiming to help ease the burden during the hot summer months.
Support for Customers
“We encourage our customers to reach out to us for help,” said Sam Dozier, General Manager of Customer Service at Dominion Energy South Carolina. “Support is available through LIHEAP and other payment plans and assistance programs we offer throughout the year.”
LIHEAP Impact
Last year, more than 66,000 Dominion Energy customers received approximately $18 million in assistance through LIHEAP and other utility bill programs. The utility company continues to offer support to those in need, ensuring that more customers can keep their homes cool without the stress of unaffordable energy bills.
How to Apply
To apply for assistance, Dominion Energy customers should contact their local community action agency. You can visit Dominion Energy’s website to find a list of these agencies by county and get the help you need.
