Los Angeles, CA – A tragic double murder occurred in Encino, California, when Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for American Idol, and her husband Thomas Deluca, a musician, were fatally shot in their home. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) conducted a welfare check at the couple’s $4.5 million home on White Oak Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 14. First responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived on the scene and confirmed that both victims, aged 70, had died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Victims Identified
The LAPD identified the deceased as Robin Kaye, a veteran music supervisor who worked on American Idol from 2002 to 2023, and Thomas Deluca, a musician. According to police reports, they were found in separate rooms within the home. The couple had reportedly walked in on the suspect, leading to a deadly confrontation.
Suspect Arrested
Authorities arrested Raymond Boodarian, a 22-year-old Encino resident, in connection with the killings. The LAPD believes that the killings were random, and there is currently no known connection between the victims and the suspect. The police also stated that there had been a possible burglary at the same house just four days earlier, on July 10, which might be linked to the incident.
A Confrontation Turns Deadly
Investigators now believe that Boodarian entered the home through an unlocked door. When Kaye and Deluca returned home, they discovered the suspect inside, and a confrontation ensued. The suspect then allegedly shot and killed both victims before fleeing the scene on foot.

Neighbors reported that an attempted break-in occurred at the same property on July 10. A neighbor, Amee Faggen, spoke to KTLA and mentioned that her renter had seen someone hopping the fence and called 911. However, it’s still unclear whether this earlier incident is related to the murders.

Kaye, known for her role in the American Idol music department as a producer from 2002 to 2023, also contributed to several other notable productions. She worked as a music supervisor for shows like Lip Sync Battle, After the Sunset, The Singing Bee, and Q’Viva!: The Chosen. She also contributed to the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants.
