In a disturbing case from Arizona, 46-year-old Justin Davidson has been indicted on first-degree murder charges following the death of his wife, Danielle Crosbie-Davidson, who was under long-term care for advanced dementia at the Eternal Spring of Gilbert facility. The tragic event occurred on June 11, when Crosbie-Davidson was found dead in her room while Davidson, who was staying with her, was present at the time.
Details of the Incident
According to the Maricopa County District Attorney’s office, Crosbie-Davidson’s health had been rapidly deteriorating since her husband arrived to stay with her at the dementia care facility. Staff members at the facility became concerned, reporting that her condition seemed to worsen, and they noticed “suspicious marks” on her. When Crosbie-Davidson was discovered dead, staff noted that her tongue was blue, which raised further alarm.
Court documents reveal that Davidson, a California resident, allegedly told staff members that he “did not want them to feed” his wife. He also reportedly locked the door to her room, a behavior that prompted staff to intervene and insist that he stop doing so to ensure they could continue their care and monitoring of her.
After her death, facility staff noticed bruising on Crosbie-Davidson’s neck, which raised suspicions. They contacted authorities, and it didn’t take long for police to question Davidson, who eventually confessed to the crime.
Confession and Details of the Murder
Davidson reportedly confessed to a failed attempt to kill his wife by intentionally overdosing her with 50 to 60 crushed Oxycodone pills, which she had been prescribed. Despite ingesting such a large quantity of the powerful opioid, Crosbie-Davidson did not die. Davidson then allegedly admitted to buying over-the-counter sleeping pills from a Target store and dissolving them in a blue-flavored frozen slushy drink from Arizona’s fast-food chain Eegee’s.
In his confession, Davidson also allegedly stated that he smothered his wife with a pillow until she stopped breathing. This shocking sequence of events led to his arrest and subsequent indictment for her murder.
Prior Domestic Issues
Further investigation into the couple’s past revealed that Davidson had previous altercations with his wife while they lived together in Southern California, with police being called to the scene on multiple occasions. These past incidents may have indicated an underlying pattern of abusive behavior.
Legal Consequences and Ongoing Case
Davidson has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail and is being held on a $1 million bond. He is scheduled for his next court appearance on August 11, 2025. If convicted, Davidson faces serious legal consequences for the brutal and premeditated killing of his wife, a vulnerable individual who was under care for a debilitating condition.
